Carlsbad, California (PRWEB) August 23, 2011

The Steps4Kids to Write Modern Manuscript DVD was selected for the Booklist Online “Top Videos for Students” along with 7 other DVDs in the "younger" category designed to supplement curriculum. Booklist Online provides reviews on behalf of the American Library Association. The Steps4Kids modern manuscript DVD also earned “Media of the Year” in the classroom DVD category (CreativeChild Magazine) and was selected as one of the “Best Vacation Products” for children (type: educational skills builder) by child development expert, Stevanne Auerbach, Ph.D (also known as Dr. Toy).

The Steps4Kids to Write Modern Manuscript DVD demonstrates how to write both upper and lowercase letters using the modern printing approach to support programs such as the D’Nealian® printing program which some educators believe can make the transition from printing to cursive more successful. Offering approximately 90 minutes of instructional support, the Steps4Kids printing DVD teaches printing using video modeling and easy-to-follow narration. Each letter’s sound is also introduced before each lesson. Although the letters are initially presented alphabetically, they are taught in groupings that build upon stroke similarities to help children learn. To make practicing fun, drawing breaks are included which show how to make simple drawings using select letters. Children watch the video demonstrations and try copying the letters as they follow the visual and auditory instructions.

To help develop literacy skills, each lesson is preceded by a colorful graphic that shows the letter to be demonstrated and sight words that use the letter. Included after each writing demonstration sequence are Look2Write™ games that show the words featured and encourage children to find the word spoken by the narrator. The correct word is then highlighted and read by the narrator for reinforcement.

The Steps4Kids to Write Modern Manuscript DVD was recently followed by the company’s 2011 Steps4Kids multiplication DVD, which has already received the “All Star” endorsement from the Kids First! Coalition for Quality Children’s Media, a starred review from the School Library Journal and “DVD of the Year” award from Creative Child Magazine. Other products by Steps4Kids, LLC include the “Steps4Kids to Write their ABCs” (DVD) (which teaches block printing such as Zaner-Bloser®) and the “Steps4Kids to Write Cursive” DVD, which are also multiple award winning.

Steps4Kids, LLC, is based in Carlsbad, California and was founded in 2005 to create educational DVDs for home and school use. All Steps4Kids DVDs are made in the U.S.A. and include public performance rights for school and library use. MSRP ranges from $ 19.99 to $ 24.99.
