New Kids' Social Network Rocket21 Teams with Professor Garfield Foundation to Engage Kids in Exploring Their Futures
San Francisco and Muncie, IN (PRWEB) July 21, 2011
Rocket21™(the new social network where kids explore amazing possibilities for their lives and futures) has entered into a collaboration with The Professor Garfield Foundation (PGF, a nonprofit that enhances and supports learning in new and innovative ways). This joint effort will provide aspiring artists and writers with inspiration and guidance from Jim Davis, (the creator of Garfield the Cat), and his colleagues involved with Professor Garfield and PAWS, Inc. (the creative studio for Garfield).
A partnership between PAWS and Ball State University, the Professor Garfield Learning Portal provides an interactive environment where children can safely explore, learn, and creatively express themselves online. Kids on Rocket21.com now have access to Davis and other members of the Garfield crew, along with videos on how to create comics, PGF games and activities that encourage creativity and self-expression, exclusive contests and promotions, and links to other PGF content.
“I’m incredibly fortunate that I’m able to do what I love; I look forward to helping kids explore their passions through Rocket21”, said Davis. “Everyone has the ability to be creative – I’m excited to connect with kids around their dreams and ideas."
“Jim’s vision has long been to foster learning through self-expression and just plain fun,” said Bob Levy, Director of Online Initiatives, PGF. “Rocket21, with its opportunities for kids to discover and advance their dreams, is a perfect match for the PGF mission.”
Hundreds of experts, called R21 PROs, from hundreds of fields have been invited to interact with kids. They include explorers, artists, ecologists, business executives, entertainers, scientists, engineers, nurses, doctors, educators, and much more – people who do some of the amazing things kids dream of doing.
“Our relationship with the Professor Garfield Foundation is really a reunion,” said Jodell Seagrave, President/COO, Rocket21. “Members of the Rocket21 team have enjoyed a great history with Jim and his crew on other projects, and we’re thrilled to be pursuing once more our shared goal of empowering kids in their own lives.”
