karate kid movie inspiring kung fu learning, good or bad?
I think it's a good thing to want to learn but i think the reasons why might not be good...i think if you want to learn anything, be it kung fu or otherwise, you should put all your heart into it and dedicate yourself to it. If you do it because it looks cool and you seen it in a movie and want to imitate what you see, i feel your doing a good thing for a bad reason
what's your opinion?

The learning process for anything follows a 4-step process.... Awareness, Imitation, Assimilation, and Application.
Awareness has to happen in some way. What difference does it makes what source or initial reason it is? After all, once a new student learns just how much time, effort and dedication it really takes to train in a martial art, the ones who are trying it for the "bad" reasons usually get weeded out. The ones who learn to appreciate any endeavor for its inherit benefits and beauty are the ones who will stick with it.
How many of us started martial arts with dreams of becoming powerful and an invincible master of fighting? How many that truly pursue the training remain with that kind of thinking?
I say.... Let the martial art schools benefit from the rise in interest generated by Karate Kid and The Last Airbender in theatres. But the good teachers will keep those students by offering something worth learning.
Be well.

Well if you like what you see and you think it’s cool then obviously you would want to put some dedication into it..I love Brazilian Ju Jitsu and when I watched the King Fu in the Karate Kid yesterday (when I saw it in the movies) I just wanted to get up and beat some butt lol. but I love fighting. I say people who do it just to look cool will probably quit after a day haha but yeah it’s always important to learn how to fight..but the kids were 12? like seriously I don’t want my kids learning all that being 12
