I just bought this, excited to find a program that would work for my daughter on our new computer with Vista. However, it doesn’t work on mine. The Dr. Suess does and the Babbin’ Dragon does, though I didn’t find those to be exceptional programs, I would rate them a 2 of 5, but the other two don’t work at all. I’ve tried running them under compatibility mode (in every possible way), but nothing. I’m running a 64 bit system, so perhaps it works on Vista with a 32 bit? All in all, I wish I had known, now I’m stuck with it. It doesn’t say anything on the box about only running on a 32 bit, so not sure if that’s the hitch. Just want to warn fellow shoppers! LOVE Reader Rabbit programs, but can’t seem to find much from them that truly works on Vista!

I bought this product as a birthday present for my 4-year old. I did not have any installation problems cited by the other reviewers. The installation was quick, and for the Dr. Seuss disk, there was no installation required. It can be run right from the CD. My daughter has been playing with 3 disks (Dr. Seuss, Rabbit Reader’s Math and Arthur’s Thinking Games), and she loves all three. The Baggin the Dragon disk contains more advance math; so, she’ll be playing that next year. The Rabbit Reader’s Math disk contains A.D.A.P.T. technology which automatically adjusts the difficulty level. This is a real nice feature, and I wish that this technology is also available on the Arthur’s disk. The Arthur’s disk contains a ladder icon, which allows you to choose the level manually. One more thing that I would like to see is to have all games on one DVD disk instead of 4 CD disks so that my daughter will not have to swap disks to change the games.

Overall, these disks contain very good educational software, very intuitive and fun to play (this is the key part). My daughter seems to like software from Adventure Workshop more than the JumpStart software which are available in my local library.

First totally agree with all of ‘Malena’ review. Second, software tries to install adware to serve ads to your kids as they play poorly designed ‘educational’ games. Both McAfee and Trend Micro flag this software so this is no error. Games of this quality (and better) are free on kid’s websites all over the internet.

If giving no stars was an option, I’d give no stars for this!

I purchased this package for my 5 year old to help with early phonics and number recognition.

This package contains 4 CDs, three of which I was unable to install. No matter what I tried - even going to the run dialog box and clicking e:installsetup.exe, three of the disks would not install. Another Amazon reviewer of the 8th edition of this program had the problems with installation, too.

The fourth CD did install, but what a disappointment. It was the “Baggin’ the Dragon Numbers Up” game. The point of the game was extremely confusing and the questions it asked in order for your playing piece to advance on the “game board” were asinine. One of the questions it asked involved the program stating the rhyme “ring around the rosy/a pocket full of posies/a-tissue a-tissue/we all fall down”. Then, the question: “Click on the last line of the rhyme”. Tell me, how is this teaching anything? I was looking for number recognition games, addition games, etc. This is not what I expected for a 5 year old.

Many of the questions were very confusing to what they were asking. In addition, all required that the player be able to read. There were absolutely no audio questions asked, so I had to sit there the entire time and read the questions to my 5 year old. I was hoping for a game to give him a little independence, but this required constant parental involvement to play.

Wish I’d done more research on Amazon, and purchased something else. What a waste!
